KIDS AND TEENS CLASSES
YOGA FOR KIDS (4 to 8 YEARS OLD)
Class description:

Kids yoga encourages physical, emotional, social, and mental development in children. It allows them to feel calmer, more aware, and much more focused.
Through traditional poses presented in a playful way, team-building games, gross and fine motor exercises, breathing exercises, and a touch of poetry, children develop their imagination along with strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance.
Sessions by East West Yoga also include a variety of amusing activities to raise the interest of the children: dances, movements based on stories or songs, obstacle courses, or more meditative exercises such as chanting, origami making, or reflection on their emotions.
Classes usually have educational themes related to culture, nature, environment, or feelings. Relaxation time at the end of the session allows children to wind down and leave the class with a light and cheerful heart!

YOGA FOR PRE-TEENS (9 to 12 YEARS OLD)
The pre-teen years mark a period of intense growth and development with the approaching of puberty and adolescence. Children at this age have a lot of energy. They are good communicators and enjoy having friends. However, differences in strength and flexibility become more striking as growth spurts occur. This is why yoga poses can be modified and taught with a more step-by-step approach to adapt to children’s growing bodies. They also have a much better awareness of their breathing than little ones, allowing for more demanding breathing exercises and coordinating breath and movement.

Yoga for pre-teens is an exploration of their bodies and minds in a fun, nurturing, and non-competitive environment. Children are encouraged to develop their imagination and leadership skills through movements and sequencing. We practice this through traditional yoga poses, team-building games, and gross and fine motor exercises. Children also learn about topics related to culture, environment, nature, anatomy, health, or yoga philosophy.

YOGA FOR TEENAGERS (13 to 18 YEARS OLD)
Yoga for teens is a practice of self-discovery, a safe space to explore the potential of their bodies and minds and to overcome self-defeating behaviours and beliefs. Yoga allows teens to shift their perspective: they learn to resort to a calm centre to deal with challenges in an ever-changing world.

It teaches self-love, builds self-esteem and self-acceptance. It inspires young people to deepen their connection to themselves. It helps them to develop healthy habits that can last for the rest of their lives. Although teens' yoga keeps games and other fun elements as essential parts of the classes, the approach to yoga becomes more detailed, challenging, and varied than for younger children. Restorative Yoga is introduced to find comfort and alleviate anxiety. Team-building games require more coordination and concentration skills.Yoga empowers and benefits young teens in many ways: it allows them to release physical and mental tensions, improve their posture, expand their minds, and build their physical strength, flexibility, and self-confidence in a nurturing, entertaining, and non-competitive environment.
Sessions by East West Yoga typically include team-building games, breathing techniques, thorough warm-ups, a fun approach to yoga postures, mindfulness, and deep relaxation.
